Variety description

The fig 'Morena' belongs to the variety group of the very common 'Brown Turkey'. Morena' is also a twice-bearing variety. However, it is somewhat later. The summer figs usually ripen - in great numbers - from August onwards and clearly following. The autumn figs do not ripen until October. For this reason, a good location is needed, preferably combined with a sunny and warm late summer, so that enough autumn figs ripen. Of course, 'Morena' also thrives in less good locations, but with the restriction that the autumn harvest is smaller.
Ripe fruits of 'Morena' - the name suggests it - are dark maroon on the outside with a light stem. The flesh is strawberry-coloured and tastes sweet-aromatic.
