Variety description

The Volkamer lemon received its name from the German citrus researcher Johann Christoph Volkamer. It seems to be a cross between the lemon and the bitter orange. Characteristic of the Volkamer lemon is its compact growth, lime tolerance and relative cold tolerance. This is why it is mainly vigorous citrus varieties that are grafted onto Volkamer lemons. Volkamer lemons are not grafted for this reason. The plant is quite adaptable, forgiving even medium soil conditions and even some sub-zero temperatures.
The main flowering period is from October to April. The flowers are white on the inside, tinged with purple on the outside and they smell fantastic.
