Variety description

Plant once and you can harvest for years - this also applies to the artichoke, provided that it is protected from the winter, which is why we count the imposing "edible thistle" as a perennial vegetable. The best place to grow artichokes is in full sun. A little winter protection is essential for cultivation over several years.

The artichoke 'Tavor' is a strong grower. The leaf rosette can grow up to 70 cm high. The foliage is narrow, silvery-green and almost spineless. This artichoke flowers reliably in the first year of growth. It grows to a height of 120-150 cm. 'Tavor' forms large, green flower buds. From July onwards, unharvested flowers open in a bright violet-blue colour and are then a veritable magnet for all kinds of insects.
