Growth: Beautiful, compact shrub, requires no pruning in the first few years (even during the cultivation phase), branches very well and rarely grows higher than 100 cm

Fruits: Medium-sized, round berries with the typical "collar" at the base of the flowers, which can also be seen on blueberries, blue-violet when fully ripe and lightly frosted

Taste: Very sweet, no acid at all, with the almond tone typical of Saskatoon berries

Variety description

With the Saskatoon berry Saskadwarf® we present a compact growing Saskatoon berry, at least in comparison to the standard varieties of Saskatoon berries. The Saskatoon berry Saskadwarf® forms a beautiful, compact shrub that grows just a little taller than 100 cm. Due to its compact growth and good natural branching, no pruning measures are necessary in the first few years; this also applies to the cultivation phase. Just like the fast-growing Saskatoon berries, Saskadwarf® is also characterised by its eye-catching flowers with high ornamental value. In addition, Saskadwarf® also has outstanding autumn colour and wonderful-tasting fruits in the summer. In terms of the ripening time, Saskadwarf® is relatively late but still a few days before Saskalate®.  Saskadwarf® has the first ripe fruits in late June to early July. The fruits taste very sweet and have no acid at all, just the almond tone that is typical of so many Saskatoon berries, which is not unpleasant but makes the pleasurable experience even more distinctive.
