Variety description

The sea kale 'Greene Dune' is the multi-talent among the sea kales: whether as etiolated asparagus, leafy vegetables, broccoli or sweet flowers - it is a veritable kale with multiple uses. It is also the strongest and most vigorous of all the sea kales in our range. Especially when the use of leafy vegetables is in focus, vigour is important. The basic principle is to harvest a maximum of 30% of the leaf mass per harvest and to allow a few weeks between harvests. If the flower stalks are removed in May, they can be used as broccoli - with the pleasant side effect that the vigour then goes further into the leaf mass.

Incidentally, when freshly planted, sea kale, like other cabbage plants, is a favourite food of slugs and snails, so watch out! The rule is this: be merciful in the first year of growth - and don't harvest (yet).
