Variety description

The elderberry variety 'Ranch' is a selection of the Canadian elderberry species Sambucus canadiensis. In contrast to our native elderberry bushes, this variety remains very compact and grows to a maximum of 2 meters high. The mega umbels stand upright and cover the wild fruit plant in a sea of white flowers for weeks. The black fruits are very productive and ideal for processing. The elderberry 'Ranch' is characterized by its extreme adaptability and thrives in very poor soil as well as in extreme heat or severe frost. An impressive addition to the existing elderberry range.
