Variety description

The real tea Fresh-T® 'Teabux®' is the most compact of all varieties in the Fresh-T® range, but also has an upright growth habit. This means that the plants from Fresh-T® 'Teabux®' generally grow more in height than in width. This makes Fresh-T® 'Teabux®' the ideal tea variety for smaller pots or small hedges, such as border hedges. With a regular harvest, a plant height of just 50 cm is easy to maintain. Like all Fresh-T® varieties, Fresh-T® 'Teabux®' also requires acidic soil/substrate and is much better off in a partially shaded location than in a location in full sun. This is not only better for the overall tea quality, but also prevents dryness problems caused by winter temperatures. In general, if temperatures are negative in the double-digit range, light winter or frost protection is advisable. The winter hardiness of Fresh-T® 'Teabux®' is -12°C, but even a short-term temperature of -15°C is no problem.

In terms of taste, Fresh-T® 'Teabux®' is a typical green tea. On the nose you first notice notes of hay. On the palate you then notice a fine acidity that is reminiscent of sorrel. With Fresh-T® 'Teabux®' but less and milder with Fresh-T® 'Tearoma®'. In the finish you feel a slight bitterness, which is also familiar from black tea.

However, before you can enjoy the tea, it must first be harvested. And that's easier than you think. In spring, the young and fresh shoots are harvested up to twice. The actual crop is the tip - the terminal bud - with one to developed leaves.
