Variety description

The dwarf pear variety Pironi® 'Joy of Kent®' is the ideal complement to the dwarf apple trees in the Maloni® series. With a final height of not much more than 150 cm, Pironi® 'Joy of Kent®' is about the same size as the dwarf apple trees. Pironi® 'Joy of Kent®' grows bushy and compact without pruning and bears delicious frosted fruits in autumn that can be stored until Christmas.

The dwarf pear Pironi® 'Joy of Kent®' was bred at the British breeding institute 'East Malling Research' - today NIAM EMR - and goes back to the old French pear variety 'Nain vert'. The extraordinary fruit quality of the Pironi® and Pirini® varieties can be explained by crossing varieties such as Conference or Packhams Triumph
