Variety description

With the Pirini® 'Myway®' pear variety, we have the first real columnar pear on offer. Thanks to an extremely small internode spacing - around 30% of a normal pear - and good apical dominance, Pirini® 'Myway®' comes quite close to the image of a columnar tree - similar to a columnar apple tree.

The columnar pear Pirini® 'Myway®' was bred at the British breeding institute 'East Malling Research' - today NIAM EMR - and, like the compact Pironi® dwarf pear varieties, goes back to the old French pear variety 'Nain vert'.
