Variety description

The Bionda® 'Bella' apple tree is nothing less than our answer to the well-known 'Golden Delicious'. However, this comparison does not do justice to the Bionda® 'Bella' apple. Essentially it's not an answer but an improvement on 'Golden Delicious'. Because let's be honest, 'Golden' is not a particularly good home garden variety, as it is particularly sensitive to scab. Bionda® 'Bella', on the other hand, is a first-class variety for the home garden. The large and rounded apples of Bionda® 'Bella' have an intense light green color that only becomes slightly yellower after being stored for several months. That brings us to the appropriate keyword: “storage”. Bionda® 'Bella' can be stored very well until the end of January/beginning of February and does not lose any of its crunch. Bionda® 'Bella' is ready for picking in the second half of September and the apples can also be enjoyed directly from the tree. And here an additional improvement over 'Golden' is revealed. The taste is not only flatly sweet but also has a certain but very pleasant acidity, which together results in a good refreshing taste.
As a tree, Bionda® 'Bella' has a comparatively weak and compact growth - in direct comparison to other Bionda® and Paradis® varieties. And, like all Lubera® apple varieties, it is also scab resistant.
