Variety description

The mulberry Bombyx® 'Sisiphus Everbearing' is the most compact mulberry in the "Bombyx® series" and can be maintained at a maximum final height of 250 cm through regular pruning. Regular pruning also further supports and promotes the natural tendency of Bombyx® 'Sisiphus Everbearing' to form a densely branched shrub. However, the fruits of Bombyx® 'Sisiphus Everbearing' appear comparatively late, around 2-4 weeks after the other Bombyx® varieties have ripe fruits, the harvest of Bombyx® 'Sisiphus Everbearing' also begins, but this lasts until into autumn.

The fruits of Bombyx® 'Sisiphus Everbearing' are between 3 cm and 5 cm long and taste very sweet, typical of mulberries, without any acidity. However, you should make sure that only fully ripe fruits are harvested; only then do they taste really good. When fully ripe, the fruits of Bombyx® 'Sisiphus Everbearing' have a black-purple color; fruits that are still slightly reddish should be left hanging.

In terms of winter hardiness, Bombyx® 'Sisiphus Everbearing' is a typical representative of the genus. The origins of the variety probably lie in Pakistan or India, at least at the foot of the Himalayan massif. It gets quite cold there in winter, but there are also long, warm growing seasons. That's why winter hardiness is slightly limited in Central Europe. It can always happen that individual shoots are damaged in very cold winters or after severe late frost events. However, it is very unlikely that the entire plant will die.
