Variety description

The kaffir lime has a special status among citrus plants. The fruits are not particularly tasty, but other uses are paramount: the fruit peels and leaves smell intensely and can keep mosquitoes away or prevent moth infestations. The extract is even said to work as a shampoo against hair lice. Finally, those who like to cook Thai food will not want to miss the kaffir lime. Like bay leaves, the leaves are often used to flavour dishes.
As a cultivated plant, the kaffir lime is comparable to other citrus plants. overwintering should not be too warm, temperatures around 5° to 12° Celsius are ideal.
