Variety description

The tree onion is not only a mystery, but a real botanical ricochet: it does not think much of sexual reproduction and makes do with offset bulbs. These, however, do not (only) develop as offshoots on the mother bulbs, as is usually the case, but at a lofty height on the ""flower shoots"". This looks rather bizarre, but it has a special function: if the ""bulb heads"" become too heavy, they lay down on the ground, where the daughter bulbs establish themselves somewhat away from the mother bulb and thus spread. Incidentally, it is quite common for a further storey to develop if one or more of the shoots proves to be particularly sturdy.
The tree onion is undemanding, loves moisture and sun, but not waterlogging. The species is completely frost hardy, which is no wonder considering its origin: it is said to come from the Siberian region.
